Dyatmika students and teachers are back for what is sure to be a wonderful and rewarding school year! We extend a special welcome to new students and their families, teachers and other staff.

While most of us were on holiday, our campus staff have worked hard to carry out maintenance and the upgrading of existing areas of the school. In addition, we are pleased that the new wantilan is finished and is being used as an undercover play space, for PE lessons and sport, Primary assemblies and larger events.

Work has also started on Dyatmika’s new music centre, complete with two purpose built classrooms, sound proof practice and recording rooms, a music office, a bookable meeting room and bathrooms. This building is a major upgrade of music facilities for music lessons and extracurricular music. Students will be able to opt into expanded opportunities for instrumental music.

Hopefully you are taking advantage of the new carpark and have seen our magnificent adjoining sports field. The other exciting development is the beautiful Dyatmika Community Garden. Our gardeners have finished their training with IDEP about permaculture gardening, based on sustainable and environmentally conscious principles. Already this year, some teachers have taken part in a gardening workshop during PD week. On Wednesday 14 August, the Community Garden Club and interested others harvested our first crop of nutritious spinach. They also planted seedlings raised in our shade house. Look for ways that you can be involved coming soon!

On a more sombre note, nearly three weeks ago now we informed you of the sad passing of Pak Craig in a traffic accident. Thank you to everyone who expressed their condolences, took part in the school’s memorial service and gave support. It is during these tragic times that our school community shows its strength and unity. As a school we are deeply grateful, as are Pak Craig’s family.
