This week signs have been placed around the school to remind people that helmets must be worn by both riders and passengers on motorbikes / scooters when travelling to and from Dyatmika. Wearing a helmet is required by both school policy and Indonesian law – *Penalty* Section 291 (1) and (2).
We take the safety of your child/ren and the adults involved in their transportation very seriously. Research tells us that for both children and adults, risk of head / brain injury is decreased by 65% as a minimum. Neck injuries are also reduced. The risk of death is reduced by at least 40% with helmets. Being close to home does not lessen the chance of an accident. Statistically, 30% of motor accidents happen within 1.6 km of home.
Not wearing a helmet is an unnecessary risk for you, your child and your staff. The school will make contact with you individually in the event that this school policy is not followed.
So, please, use your head and wear a helmet!
