The events of the last six months have equipped Dyatmika’s 2020 graduating class with more resilience, adaptability and creativity than any of their predecessors. After spending the final months of their school days in lockdown, seeing their university and gap year plans unravel, and then coping with the emotional rollercoaster of the recent examination turmoil, they have emerged on the other side stronger, more independent, and more ready to cope with the challenges presented by adult life than they might have expected back in March.
Understandably, this year many more students than normal have decided to take a gap year to allow international institutions time to resume in-person classes and to reflect further on what they want the next stage of their academic journey to look like. However, others have decided to dive straight in and commence their studies in whatever format is currently viable.
We are delighted that Dyatmika will again be represented at many leading universities around the globe. The University of British Columbia, Erasmus University The Amsterdam Fashion Institute, Edinburgh University, The University of Wisconsin-Madison, Bennington College, The Hotel School – The Hague, Waterloo University, Melbourne University, Amsterdam, Rotterdam and The Hague Applied Science Universities, and many others will be matriculating our alumni.
Many of these students have also received considerable scholarships as a result of their commitment to academic excellence during their time at school. A number will not only be commencing their classes online, but also attending lectures and seminars when the rest of us are tucked up in bed – a further testament to their determination to not let anything stand in the way of them pursuing their dreams.
To all of them, we wish the very best of luck and, as always, look forward to them returning to Bali and to Dyatmika to share stories of their adventures.
