As they enter their final term of AS level study, Class 11 students should now be giving serious consideration to preparing for university application. The final year of school is demanding: students are expected to balance increasing academic demands alongside leadership roles and extracurricular involvement, whilst also engaging in the time consuming process of managing applications to institutions around the globe. It is wise, therefore, to use this term and the June/July break to get a head start on research, building a CV, starting application essays and drawing up a timeline.
Since the start of Class 11, all students have had access to a University and Careers Google Classroom where university webfair invitations have been regularly posted. Many students have also met with me throughout the year and now have a solid plan in place. I would like to meet with all remaining students at least once this term, so can I please encourage parents to remind their son/daughter to make an appointment via my Calendly schedule, if they have not already done so. Students have also been asked (via GC) to complete a survey detailing their university intentions at this stage.
The majority of students will also be required to take an English Language Test as part of their application requirements. The IELTS test is normally the one that I recommend and can be taken at the IALF centre in Denpasar. The test is valid for two years and by taking it in the holidays students can ensure they have it ready to submit with their application – and have one less exam to worry about in Class 12! The test can be booked here: IELTS Bali.
