Jonathan Turner
Director of School
Pak Jonathan is an experienced school leader with a passion and track record for leading educational settings that promote high academic standards. Jonathan has a Masters in Educational Leadership and Management from the University of Bath (UK) and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education (Honours) from the University of Exeter (UK). With a career spanning almost 30 years so far, he began his teaching career in the UK and then moved overseas to pursue teaching and leadership opportunities at prestigious international schools in the Philippines, Malaysia and Indonesia. Having worked in leading FOBISIA schools over the years, Jonathan now holds an Individual Membership of FOBISIA and is an advocate of continued professional learning for all staff.
In his spare time, Jonathan likes to lead an active and varied lifestyle with a range of interests. He enjoys surfing, cycling, tennis and swimming. Jon also enjoys listening to music and playing the guitar.
Tessa Oakley
International Head of Primary and Early Years
This year marks Ibu Tessa’s twentieth year in Primary school teaching, a fact she can hardly believe! After earning her undergraduate degree in Social and Political Science with Spanish and French at the University of Cambridge, she worked for three years as a financial journalist before a change of heart brought her to a career in education. She has never looked back.

Ibu Tessa has lived and worked outside the UK since 2006, and has enjoyed the great privilege of getting to know many children and their families all around the world. Ibu Tessa believes in honouring identity and building meaningful relationships as ways to create safe communities for learning and a sense of belonging for all.
A lifelong learner herself, Ibu Tessa holds a Masters in Development Education and Global Learning and she is certified to train teachers in a functional linguistics approach to language. Always aiming to lead by example, she strives to nurture an intrinsic love of learning in all students. Each child is on their own journey towards success, and Ibu Tessa is passionate about teaching adaptively to help them thrive.
In her spare time, Ibu Tessa enjoys pilates, spinning, walks in nature, and reading. She is also partial to a good coffee with friends!
Ni Putu Martini
National Head of Primary and Early Years
Ibu Martini was born and raised in Bali. She is an experienced and enthusiastic teacher who believes that students will perform their best when they take ownership of their learning. She nurtures students within a learning environment where choices are provided and appreciated, clear objectives are presented and meaningful feedback is given.

Martini has a Masters in English Language Education from Ganesha University of Education and her teaching career spans more than 10 years in Primary and the Early Years. Martini started her teaching career by teaching in a bilingual primary school in Jimbaran before moving to Dyatmika as a Teaching Assistant before her appointment as a Primary teacher. She took part in a teacher exchange program to Methodist Ladies College (Western Australia) in 2017 where she observed best practices in their Primary and Early Years programme. To strengthen her understanding on Early Years education, she recently took a basic short course on national early years education and considers continuous professional development an essential part of being a good teacher.
In her spare time, Martini enjoys listening to music and watching movies. She also loves to cook for her family and spend quality time with them at home.

Pak Dekna is an experienced and passionate early years teacher. He believes that school is a place to align aspiration and creativity. He believes that the happier students feel at school, the better their learning experience will be.

Pak Dekna has Bachelor of English Literature from Udayana University and Bachelor of Early Years Teacher Education from Universitas Terbuka Denpasar.
He began his career in Early Years Education in 2006 as a Teaching Assistant before working as a teacher for students aged 2 – 3 years old at Little Stars Early Learning and Kindergarten. He then moved to Dyatmika as a Playgroup Teacher. Pak Dekna relished an opportunity to join a teacher exchange program to Perth Australia in 2017 to further develop his teaching skills and he continues to expand his knowledge through his daily student interactions.
Pak Dekna enjoys listening to music, watching movies and spending time with his family. He joins in with community services and writes children’s story books in his spare time. His first children’s story book was published in 2021.
Jonathan Cherry
International Head of High School
Pak Jon C’s career in education began in 2005; teaching and leading both in the UK, and internationally. Since becoming the International Head of High School at Dyatmika, Jon has brought about significant developments in Teaching and Learning, Extra Curricular provision, and community across the whole school.

He has been able to achieve this due to his acute understanding of the needs of his students and his ability to lead by example. He is most proud of the attitude to learning that students show on a day to day basis, developed through a team of teachers with outstanding attitude to their continual professional development.
Jon has a BSc in Finance, and a PostGraduate Certificate in Education from the University of Bristol. JonC has also successfully completed the National Professional Qualification for Headship from UCL, London. Pak Jon is committed to result-driven academic excellence and believes in the symbiotic integration of students’ learning and their cultural environment. Bali has been his home for over a decade and his essence as a school leader has been centred around this wholesome approach; reflected in his work towards Dyatmika’s Learner Profile.
Jon enjoys spending time outdoors with his family. He also likes to travel, and in his spare time, he is a keen cyclist and surfer.

Pak Ketut is the National Head of School with more than 25 years of teaching experience. This ranges from playgroup to executive class at the level of university in various different subjects (Science, Physics, Math, Chemistry, Economics, Sport and also Religion).

Pak Ketut gained his Master’s Degree in Education from Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha) in Singaraja and gained his Degree in pure Physics from Airlangga University Surabaya, one of the best universities in Indonesia. Upon graduating he began his teaching career in Surabaya before moving to Bali to work as a lecturer before he joined Sekolah Dyatmika.
Outside of school, he is very active in the community and in his spare time enjoys various different sports such as football, swimming and cycling.
Ida Ayu Kade Surya Utami (Ami)
Deputy Head of High School
Ibu Ami has a Degree in IT from a reputable university in Yogyakarta and a degree in Business Studies from Latrobe University, Bendigo, Victoria which allows her to be an experienced teacher in both fields. Before starting work at Dyatmika, Ibu Ami worked at two other international schools in Bali.

Ibu Ami was pleased to be appointed as Deputy National Head of School since this allows her to implement ideas and strengthen her leadership skills.
She strongly believes that the establishment of positive relationships between all members of the community at the school maintains and promotes motivation in the teaching and learning process for both teachers and students.
Outside of school, Ibu Ami enjoys cooking, swimming, and reading. She also loves to take her kids to explore various outdoor activities. But the most precious moment for her is to get together in the comfort of the living room to just listen to her children’s stories.

Holding a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in English Language Education from Ganesha University, Bali, Pak Cok’s love of teaching has grown since he was a primary class teacher of a national plus school applying a combined curriculum. Following a successful qualification as National Head of School from the Indonesian authorities, Pak Cok explored the management ladder by taking opportunities to lead schools with national and international settings around Bali. During his more than 17 years of in education, Pak Cok acquired extensive knowledge on the Indonesian education system. The Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology recognized him as a Master Trainer for the school’s transformation program and a National Instructor for the teacher’s transformation program.
As the Head of SPK Accreditation in Dyatmika, Pak Cok was instrumental in guiding the whole school through the rigorous process of SPK Accreditation in 2019 leading to an excellent level of accreditation for EYP/Primary and High School. Over the years, Pak Cok has built productive networks with schools around Indonesia and in 2021, he was appointed as Deputy of the SPK School Association with more than 400 members across Indonesia. Personally, he has a dream to bring about “Merdeka Philosophy” of Bapak Ki Hadjar Dewantara, the Indonesian Education Father, to a global community.
Away from his busy schedule, Pak Cok enjoys cooking, reading books on education and philosophy, getting around the island with friends and family or walking his two balinese dogs. Also, He has an interest in digital publications and human photography.
A. A. Gede Agung Kusuma Yudha

After completing his study at Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Indonesia) with a Bachelor of Mathematics Education, Gung Yudha started his professional career as a mathematics teacher at the SMK TI Bali Global and the Ganesha Operation Tutoring Institute in 2010.

Two years working at two educational institutions have given him a wealth of experience in managing classes as well as preparing students for exams. As someone who likes challenges, Gung Yudha wanted to find new experiences by joining Dyatmika school as a mathematics teacher. As a teacher, Gung Yudha believes that the key to teaching success is building constructive relationships with students and colleagues.
The world of education is a very dynamic environment, a teacher must be able to adapt to the times. For this reason, Gung Yudha actively participates in professional development activities at every opportunity, both PD activities organised by foreign institutions and government institutions. Currently, Agung Yudha is pursuing a Master’s Degree in Educational Research and Evaluation at the Ganesha University of Education (Indonesia) with a full scholarship from the Indonesian Ministry of Education.
Born and raised in Bali, Agung Yudha really appreciates the cultural heritage that exists in Bali. On the sidelines of teaching activities, Gung Yudha is actively involved in traditional activities. For him, the most important thing in life is to find balance physically and mentally. For this reason, he always takes the time to spend his free time travelling with his family, relaxing on the beach, or just spending time gardening at home.

Ibu Agnes graduated in Physics Education at Sanata Dharma University, Yogyakarta . She began her career as a Junior High School Teacher in Jakarta, before joining Dyatmika. Ibu Agnes enjoys opportunities to develop professionally and a highlight was joining a teacher exchange program in Melbourne Australia.
Ibu Agnes enjoys listening to music, singing, and watching movies. She also likes cooking and especially trying new recipes.
Agus Dita Saputra
Head of House and Economics Teacher
Pak Agus completed his Economics Education Bachelor’s Degree at Ganesha University of Education (UNDIKSHA), Singaraja in 2011. In 2012 he went to East Nusa Tenggara to teach students in disadvantaged areas, it was a memorable experience followed by a year of teaching in East Nusa Tenggara.

In 2012 Pak Agus continued his studies by obtaining a Teacher Professional Education scholarship before commencing his career as an Economics teacher at Dyatmika School. He is very proud to be a part of Dyatmika School and its amazing community. As a teacher, Pak Agus believes that anything can be learned if we are open to being adaptable.

Ali Nall
Assistant Head of Primary (Upper Primary and Student Leadership/Enrichment)
Ibu Ali is an experienced primary teacher who is dedicated to helping her students achieve individual success and enjoyment from their time at school. She firmly believes that children flourish and are engaged at school when they feel safe, supported and motivated and she is committed to making this possible for all students in her care.

Ibu Ali has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marine Geography, a Masters Degree in Marine Environmental Protection and a postgraduate certificate of education. She qualified as a teacher in 2004 and has since taught primary-aged children from a variety of backgrounds and with a variety of learning needs both in the UK and in Vietnam. Ibu Ali has also mentored student teachers wishing to join the teaching profession.
Ibu Ali enjoys activities that involve being on or in the water and has finally achieved a lifelong ambition to become a qualified diver since arriving in Bali. Travel is also a passion and she has been lucky enough to visit more than 30 countries around the world so far. Ali also enjoys walks on the beach with her adopted Bali dog, Bonnie, walking the rescue dogs at Bali Animal Welfare Association, trying new food and continues to try her best to learn Bahasa Indonesia.

Ibu Agung is an experienced early years teacher. Before deciding to pursue a career in early years education, Ibu Agung completed her Bachelor Degree in English Education from University Ganesha, Bali. Ibu Agung is an experienced teacher, having worked in a national plus school in Bali and also at Sekolah Dyatmika for 5 years previously.

Andy Charlton

Andy is delighted to be part of the Dyatmika community, working in the Senior School as a Teacher of English and Academic and Pastoral Leader for Class 11 and 12.

Previously Andy has worked in the North East of England at a leading Catholic High school and in Asia at a top international school here in Indonesia. His previous positions include: a Leader of Teaching and Learning, Head of House and Head of English. Andy is a tech enthusiast, a Google Certified, an Apple Distinguished Educator, a Digital Citizenship Educator and is keen to continually develop an innovative approach to transform teaching and learning.
Outside of school, Andy enjoys playing a range of sports and also following the trials and tribulations of Newcastle United Football Club. Andy enjoys travel and the opportunities this allows for experiencing different cultures.
Ben Wilson

Pak Ben is originally from the north coast of Ireland, but he moved across the Irish Sea to further his studies. He holds a BSc (Hons) in Business Information Systems from the University of Edinburgh Napier, a PGCE from Cornwall SCITT and a Masters in International Education from the University of Sunderland.

Over the past decade of teaching, Pak Ben has taught in schools in Cornwall, England and Indonesia. Since 2015, he has been teaching IGCSEs and A Levels in ICT/Computer Science, Business and PE in Lombok. He was also the Vice Principal during his time in Lombok and has a proven track record for improving results, driving schools forward as well as nurturing the wellbeing of students.
Pak Ben is a keen runner and surfer but enjoys all sports, and played football to a high standard in Northern Ireland before he left to attend university.
Christian Pedersen

Pak Christian is a global nomad, formerly ‘third culture kid’, having lived in 10 countries. He is a Danish citizen with a mostly US education and two UK Degrees: aBSc (hons) in Physics from St. Andrews and a PGCE from Aberdeen.

He has enjoyed teaching science and maths since joining the future teachers program in high school and decided to become a teacher while volunteering at a local secondary school in Fife, as part of the Undergraduate Ambassadors Scheme.
Pak Christian has always appreciated the process of teaching and finds the relationships he builds with students, parents, and the local community to be both his greatest achievement and privilege, but there have been many other highlights in his career. At Sgoil Lionacleit, he led his students in a survey for the British Geological Society, collecting ash and debris in the Outer Hebrides, from the eruption of Eyjafjallajökull in Iceland, which was evidenced in a published journal article. At King’s College Madrid, Christian led the robotics team for three years, winning the Madrid finals and competing on a national level in the First Lego League competition. While working at the British International School Cairo, he was able to bring the IB Physics class to CERN to tour the large hadron collider and antimatter factory.
Pak Christian loves the outdoors, often going camping and hiking with his dog, a local Kintamani. He has many hobbies and is always excited to learn different handcrafts or prepare new recipes, but mostly he is an avid reader and will spend hours enjoying non-fiction and sci-fi.
Claire Dockray
Head of Art
Ibu Claire is an experienced art teacher, having started her teaching career in Manchester in 2006. Prior to Dyatmika school, she taught GCSE art and the Creative Media Diploma in Salford for 6 years and the Middle Years Program and the International Baccalaureate in Switzerland also for 6 years.

She was drawn to Bali for its rich cultural traditions and creativity.
Her educational philosophy is very student centered with the view that all students are capable of being creative and can express themselves as artists. In her classroom, she provides students opportunities to create and solve artistic problems and to develop their own ideas independently in an environment where students feel at ease to take creative risks. She is very proud of the artwork created by Dyatmika students and often shares this in the art instagram account. This year, she hosted the first (post Covid) Dyatmika art exhibition at Komaneka gallery. She often organises art trips and workshops for art students to experience working alongside professional artists and to see art first hand in a gallery setting.
When not at school, Ibu Claire enjoys creating her own art in the form of portrait paintings using mixed media and oil paint. She also enjoys learning about new technology and is currently completing an online course in digital drawing. She is keen to participate in local art workshops to further develop her artistic knowledge and practical skills.
Clara Dayinta
Bahasa Indonesia / Citizenship Teacher
Ibu Clara has a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Widya Mandala Catholic University, Surabaya. While studying, she was the coordinator of the student executive board, a language laboratory assistant and a teaching assistant at her university.

Her professional life began as the secretary of the Director of the Institute of Tropical Disease, Universitas Airlangga, Surabaya. While working as a secretary, she also volunteered to teach children in her neighbourhood area in collaboration with the Surabaya government. During that teaching period, Clara found that teaching children moral values helped build positive characters in the future. From this belief, she decided to be a teacher in Dyatmika and has not looked back ever since!

Ibu Dayu is a passionate Music Teaching Assistant. She believes that every student has a different learning style, and celebrates individuality and creativity.

Devi Octavia Simatupang
Art Teacher & Coordinator of campus display, primary art activities and outreach
Ibu Octa was born and raised in Lampung. Octa holds a degree in Primary Education from Pelita Harapan University and a Master’s Degree Art Education from the Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, Bandung.

She has taught at various schools within Indonesia including Java, Sulawesi, and Bali before joining Dyatmika school.
She holds the belief that art classes in school encompass more than just learning how to draw, paint, or craft. They also provide new experiences, foster creativity, develop sensibility, and nurture responsibility. According to her, possessing talent is commendable, but she values perseverance that leads to progress even more, considering it worthy of celebration.
Outside of teaching, Octa uses her time volunteering or joining art clubs to connect with other creative people. She is actively involved in Trash Hero Sanur and loves to go backpacking, watch performance art, and drive on her scooter.
Dewa Bagus Putu Agastya Pratama Putra

Pak Agas graduated from STMIK STIKOM BALI campus in Denpasar with a Bachelor of Science in Computers, specialising in multimedia. His love for music was evident from Junior High School where he learned to play guitar.

Dewi Fatmawati

Dewi is a teacher who has a great passion and love for education. She grew up in the city of Bandar Lampung, Lampung province. She completed her education at the University of Lampung majoring in French Language Education.

After graduation, she started her career as a French teacher at International Education Consultants for several years and has experience teaching at various levels of education.
For her passion in education and foreign languages, Ibu Dewi has been a speaker at international conferences on French and has published in academic journals related to literary research for teaching foreign languages at the university level in the conference internationale sur la francaise (CIF). Apart from liking literature, she likes to spend her free time reading books, writing, learning foreign languages and volunteering as a teacher at an international NGO related to youth. Ibu Dewi is also involved in curriculum development and learning innovation. She firmly believes that education is the key to changing lives and opening countless doors of opportunity and that every student has unique potential that needs to be discovered and developed. As an educator, Ibu Dewi is committed to creating an inclusive, fun and passionate learning environment.

Pak Eddie believes that education should be inspirational and guide students to becoming a valued member of their local and global community. He values a child centred approach to learning, where children take on extra responsibility for how they will learn and what they want to find out. He believes that education goes beyond the core subjects and helps students to identify skills and passions that they can nurture.
In his spare time, Pak Eddie enjoys travelling with his family and learning about new cultures. He also loves sports, especially football and cricket, and loves to play and watch both. He is also a keen Formula 1 supporter. Early on weekend mornings, you may find Eddie out running as he also enjoys competing in long distance road and trail runs.
Elizabeth Permatasari

Completing her study from Malang State University, East Java as a Bachelor in English Language Education, Elizabeth began her professional life as a secretary in the Heads of Domestic and International Relations office in a reputable university in Surabaya.

In addition to putting her communications skills into practice, she gained extra expertise during this period which later would distinguish her in the teaching field.
Elizabeth started her career at Dyatmika as an English teacher for National curriculum and a Bahasa Indonesia teacher for Cambridge programmes. She has witnessed the growth of this beautiful school and its talented students. She cherishes the creative language projects that her students have produced in the form of short stories, poems, short movies, posters, essays, advertisements and many more. Elizabeth has a passion for writing and some of her pieces have won awards from Radar Bali Literary Awards (a poem), PT Rohto Laboratories Indonesia (a short story), Femina magazine (an essay), and Wanita Penulis Indonesia cab, Bali (a monologue). However, the proudest moments for her are when her students demonstrate improvements in their language proficiency and empower themselves as learners.
Her downtime includes drawing, listening to good music, sewing or simply strolling down the beach around Sanur then swimming with her pug – sometimes with her husband as well.
Ellen Saputra
Extracurricular Activities (ECA) Coordinator
Working more than 5 years in the education field, as lecturer, Ibu Ellen managed multiple activities in higher education, covering teaching, research and community services.

Ellen has been deeply involved in initiating social projects that have had a positive impact not only for students’ lives but to other contributors as well. She holds Bachelor and Master Degree in Visual Arts, majored in Film Production. She is currently pursuing her Doctoral Degree focusing on a social problem that is implemented as a short film.
Ibu Ellen has a proven track record of collaborating with academic tutors, parents, stakeholders to support and expand programs that benefit students. Ellen believes that a strong partnership between school and community is essential for the success of the learning process.
During her spare time, she likes to travel and do outdoor sports such as cycling and hiking. Ellen is a very active individual and enjoys being involved in group fitness classes.

Ibu Erni Hastuti graduated from English Language Education of Sanata Dharma University in Yogyakarta. Over the course of her 18 years teaching experience, Erni has been fortunate to gain experience working with Foundation/Key stage 1 and 2 children and staff teams in a variety of schools. She began her teaching career as a teacher assistant in Yogyakarta International School before joining the Teachers Exchange Program funded by Australia Indonesia Institute. This gave her the opportunity to improve teaching skills and the development of curricula at five Australian primary schools, located in the South West region of Western Australia.
Ibu Erni loves literature and stories, especially children’s books. Ibu Erni Hastuti has written her own children’s books for Unicef, Literasi Anak Indonesia Foundation and Room to Read. During her spare time, Erni likes to be active and healthy, through swimming and exercise. She enjoys learning about other cultures and languages and is currently exploring the Korean language and its culture.

Ibu Febri has more than 13 years of work experience in the educational world, both as a teacher and as a writer.
In her free time she enjoys writing articles, poetry for mass media, embroidery, knitting, and spending time with her daughter and husband.

Ibu Gabby originates from Jakarta. In addition to her Master’s Degree, Ibu Gabby is also licensed as a psychologist by UI.

After completing her Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) at York St John University in 2014, Ibu Gemma has taught in the UK and at prestigious international schools in Switzerland. In each role, she has embraced opportunities to foster student agency and voice, serving as head of the school council and literacy coordinator. Born into a mixed Javanese-Papuan family, Ibu Hana grew up in Tembagapura, Papua, and then moved to Central Java to pursue her studies. She has a Bachelor of Education (Language and Literature) from the Christian University of Satya Wacana (Indonesia).

Ibu Hana started her teaching career as a volunteer English teacher for an orphanage in Java, before moving to Bali to work in tourism as a personal assistant, accountant and graphic designer. After a while she decided to move back into the field that she was most passionate about – education.
Prior to joining Dyatmika, Ibu Hana taught in another international school in Bali. She actively pursues professional development opportunities and a highlight was being one of the speakers at an educational seminar held in Bali.
Ibu Hana loves to read and write stories and poems. She is one of the authors of a collection of short stories entitled “I’m (Not) Okay” and a book of poetry entitled “Buku Untuk Dibaca di Kafe Kopi”. She also writes stories to be read on one of Papua’s radio stations. Besides that, Hana enjoys singing, playing the guitar and watching horror series.

Ibu Helen is an experienced teacher of Mathematics, beginning her career in 2008 at various high schools in the Isle of Man, before moving to Dyatmika. She firmly believes that students benefit from being able to discuss their learning and strives to be an approachable teacher who plans and delivers lessons that students enjoy, whilst also feeling a sense of progression.

Her interest in teaching was sparked whilst teaching undergraduate students at the University of Manchester whilst working towards a PhD in Structural Fire Engineering. She realised that she much preferred the teaching over the research so decided to step away to retrain as a High School Mathematics teacher. Ibu Helen has a Masters Degree in Structural Engineering with Architecture (1st Class with Honours) and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (Secondary Mathematics), both from the University of Manchester.
When not at school Ibu Helen loves travelling, walking and eating in equal measure. She usually tries to combine these passions during the school holidays and can often be found sampling the local cuisine after a long walk in a new city, both in Indonesia and beyond. She especially loves visiting new places in Indonesia, so far she has visited 14 provinces and is looking forward to seeing more.

Pak Renga is an alumnus of the School of Teacher Training (the State University) in Singaraja (STKIP Singaraja), North Bali and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Teaching. He has also had the opportunity to conduct a teacher exchange program to Australia twice: Melbourne in 2007 and Perth in 2018.

In 2007, Pak Laurence was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography from the University of Aberdeen. Dewi graduated from English Language Education of Undiksha University in Singaraja (Bali). With a career spanning 20 years so far, she began her teaching career as a teacher assistant in Kennington Primary School in Bendigo – Victoria, then taught early years students in Taman Rama Kindergarten, Denpasar Bali.
Writing children’s story books is a passion that also contributes to her success as a teacher. She feels privileged to have had opportunities to write books for Unicef, Literasi Anak Indonesia Foundation, Literacy Cloud and let’s read – The Asia Foundation. One of her books won the grand prize of The Samsung KidsTime Authors’ Award in 2016. Ibu Lusia graduated from English Language Education of Sanata Dharma University in Yogyakarta in 2002, and began teaching as a teacher assistant at Yogyakarta International School. Besides teaching in formal school settings, she has also worked as an instructor of an English language course where she taught English to children and adults.
Ibu Lusia enjoys spending her free time reading and singing. Her interest in reading has inspired her to write children’s books for Unicef and Literasi Anak Indonesia Foundation. Ibu Made graduated from Udayana University and gained her teaching qualification from the University of IKIP PGRI, Bali. Throughout her career, she has continued to seek opportunities to learn and has undertaken training in teaching special needs students, first aid and Cambridge training.
Ibu Made enjoys teaching and working with students and loves many different types of sports. She was one of the martial arts athletes selected to represent Indonesia in the SEA games before she injured her ankle. She still does some martial arts coaching and plays futsal every week. In her spare time, Ibu Made likes to explore nature with her family and friends, hiking, climbing and camping. She also enjoys music, she plays guitar and drums. She was the drummer of the one and only girl band in Bali during her school time. Those skills and interests are used to coach pencak silat club in school, and get involved in Duke of Edinburgh expeditions and the teacher’s band!

Ibu Maria grew up in Jersey in the Channel Islands and studied Music at Oxford University (Lady Margaret Hall), later completing her PGCE at University College London (UCL). She has taught GCSE and A-level music in both private and state schools in London and Brighton since 2014, as well as more recently working as an A-Level examiner.
As a musician (singing, piano, percussion and French horn), Ibu Maria has a wide understanding of different instruments and genres. She has performed in a diverse range of ensembles and contexts including Vivamus Choir, Rhythms of the City Samba, and Trinity Orchestra. She has conducted numerous choirs and orchestra in varied contexts having worked with NGO slum choirs in Mumbai to conducting prestigious choral evensong at St Martin-in-the-Fields, London. She is a productive composer of film and contemporary classical music, and her music has been performed in locations around the UK and in the Channel Islands by musicians such as the BBC Singers, Illumina, Ensemble Isis and Acapella Brass.
Outside of school, Ibu Maria also enjoys yoga, swimming, rock climbing and learning languages.

Ibu Marie graduated from the University of Hertfordshire with a BA (Hons) in Linguistics and English Language, and additionally holds an MA in Teaching and Learning from the University of East Anglia.
Growing up in the city of Cambridge, UK, inspired Ibu Marie’s love of museums and the arts. However, Ibu Marie has spent the majority of her teaching career overseas in the United Arab Emirates and the Netherlands, and thrives in an international environment.
Ibu Marie fell in love with Bali, the culture and Balinese people following an extended visit whilst training to become a yoga teacher. She is thrilled to be a part of Dyatmika and views herself as a life-long learner, contributing to the wider school community in many ways such as bringing her skills as a qualified fitness instructor and running coach.
In her free time, Ibu Marie enjoys sports, outdoor activities and yoga. As an English teacher, she is naturally an avid reader and can often be found with a book, sitting in a quiet corner of a cafe whilst sipping on a turmeric latte.

There is one reason why he chose to teach physical education: not only because he loves playing sports, but also because he thinks that it is one of the key ways to have a happy soul and healthy body. As a teacher, Pak Michael believes that anything can be learned. He is very proud to be a part of the amazing Dyatmika School community. Before qualifying as a teacher, Nadine worked on a national energy efficiency programme with local governments and NGOs and attained certification from the Institute of Leadership and Management. Her teaching qualification, a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education (Secondary English), is also from University of London.
Ibu Nadine began her English teaching career at an inner-city all girls school in London, where she progressed to KS3 Coordinator, curating and delivering a curriculum in line with her educational ethos: encouraging students to have high expectations; providing creative opportunities and instilling a love of reading and writing for pleasure. Ibu Pami holds a Bachelor’s Degree in English Language Education from Ganesha University of Education in Buleleng, Bali, having graduated in 2019. During university, she took part in many students’ organisations and student’s programs in collaboration with Simmon College from Boston, USA. Furthermore, Pami also joined early years teaching programs that were conducted in small villages in Buleleng. These experiences inspired her to commence work as a Teaching Assistant in Dyatmika.

Ibu Utami has fully participated in the development of the reading program at Dyatmika School. She believes that developing a reading culture and a love of reading amongst children is essential in providing them with insight into their own development and the world.
During her time as a teacher at Dyatmika, Ibu Utami has gained valuable experience as a writer and editor of graded books and children’s story books. The books that she wrote and developed are currently being used as books for reading programs in most public elementary schools in Indonesia. She is a speaker and a trainer in various reading development training programs for elementary school teachers nationally. She relishes such opportunities as these allow her to make a major contribution to the teaching and learning processes in classrooms beyond Dyatmika.
Reading novels and watching dramas are activities that she enjoys in her spare time and is a loving mother to her teenage son and daughter.

Ibu Olivia began her teaching career in The Bahamas, where she was able to increase her knowledge of and love for the ocean and its inhabitants.
She has since taught in Kenya, Vietnam and most recently whilst sailing around the Atlantic Ocean on a tall ship.
Ibu Olivia has always had a keen interest in animals (especially humans!) and their behaviour. In her classroom, you will find enthusiastic discussions about the wonders of the human brain, and a collaborative and cohesive learning environment. She is a promoter of positive psychology and enjoys organising activities to nurture good mental health. She advocates for volunteering in order to discover and develop student’s talents, knowledge and confidence.
In her free time, Ibu Olivia loves running, reading and cooking. Her passions are exploring new places, seeing animals in their natural environments (both on land and under the water), and experiencing as much as this world has to offer! She is excited to learn more about Indonesian culture, Bahasa Indonesia, and – last but definitely not least – Balinese cuisine!

He has taught in several schools with wide ranging environmental and socio-economic conditions which has strengthened his ability to adapt well to change. His belief that schools should be safe, productive yet fun and enjoyable has only been reinforced over the past few years given the need to switch from ‘in person’ teaching to online learning at times during the pandemic.
Pak Philis was awarded a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Science from The University of Sheffield in 2000 and completed his PGCE a year later at the same institution. After completing his first two years of teaching in a comprehensive school in his hometown of Birmingham he was offered the opportunity to move to Sulawesi, Indonesia to run conservation and research expeditions for Sixth Form and University students. In 2006 he returned back to the classroom and back to Birmingham after securing a pastoral role in a very large secondary school. In 2013 he took his Geography and pastoral skills to Hanoi, Vietnam where he was based for 4 years before jumping at the chance to move to Bali and teach at Dyatmika where he now feels settled and ‘at home’.
In his spare time Pak Philis likes to get his hands dirty in the garden, enjoys long walks with his dog, Reggie, and enjoys movies. He is an adventurous traveller and always looks forward to his next adventure!
Philip Carey

Pak Philip is a highly motivated and enthusiastic teacher of Physical Education with over 25 years of teaching experience. He is originally from Cardiff, Wales in the UK but has taught in 4 different countries.

His teaching career started in the United Kingdom, then conducted teacher training in Guyana, South America, was Head of Physical Education and Student activities coordinator at a prestigious High School in New York City and has been Head of Physical Education at Dyatmika for many years, making him the longest serving international member of staff!
Pak Philip has a Masters Degree in Education from Columbia University – Teachers College, New York (USA), a Bachelor of Arts Degree in ‘Human Movement’ Studies from Cardiff Institute of Wales (UK) with a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE). He has teaching/coaching qualifications and expertise in all areas of sport and even once represented Guyana’s National Rugby Team in the Caribbean Rugby World Cup qualifying tournament.
Philip is also currently the chairman and coordinator of the Bali School Sports Association (BSSA) which has 10 member schools. He is a strong believer of ‘Sport for All’ and has been instrumental in encouraging participation in sport and driving the sporting success and achievements of Dyatmika School and Students during his time at Dyatmika. He also has a philosophy of children being Physically active, healthy and engaged in all kinds of sporting activities makes them positive ‘student’ athletes. Meaning that motivation, improvement and success in the sports hall, sports field, court, pool, gym should also help overcome challenges and improve focus, effort and success in the Classroom, thus a healthy body has a healthy and strong positive mind.
In his leisure time, Philip still enjoys being physically active by Running, Cycling and going to the gym. Although these activities are mostly non competitive nowadays, being active is generally part of keeping a healthy balanced routine that is essential in his everyday life.

Ibu Philippa has a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Science from the UK, after which she began her teaching career in Cornwall where she worked in a Special Educational Needs (SEN) School for students with communication difficulties. This was a job that provided great challenges but huge rewards and led to her completing her SENCO qualification.
Ibu Philippa began her international teaching career in Lombok, Indonesia where she taught Year 5 and 6 students the Cambridge International curriculum as well as holding the position of SEN Coordinator for the past 6 years. Ibu Philippa loves Indonesia and all that it has to offer, including exploring the beautiful island of Bali.
Outside of the classroom, Ibu Philippa enjoys Muay Thai and yoga, as well as walks on the beach with her two dogs. She is looking forward to improving her Bahasa Indonesia as well as becoming a better cook!

Besides the educational world, Shela has an insatiable interest in environmental activities. In 2018, she organised the annual event of ‘Bali Biggest Clean-Up’ by Bye-Bye Plastic Bags in Singaraja. Sometimes on the weekends, Shela volunteers for beach clean-up activities with Trash Hero. She also supports sustainable fashion by rewearing and repurposing clothes. Irma has a Masters in Educational Psychology from the University of Indonesia (UI) and a Bachelor’s of Psychology from Udayana University. Along with her Master’s Degree, Irma is also licenced and registered as a psychologist in Indonesia from UI, Jakarta. Inclusive education and counselling intervention have been her main expertise since 2015. Prior to joining Dyatmika, Irma has been working with students with special needs, conducting counselling, and giving academic support in National and International schools both in Bali and Jakarta. Aside from her job, Irma is also an active member of the Indonesian Psychologist Association (Bali) and Special Education Network in Asia (SENIA).
Irma likes to travel to see nature. She is also keen on trying something new like climbing, diving, and baking. But most of the time, she chooses to relax while watching her favourite movies and TV series.

Ibu Beci is originally from South Wales in the United Kingdom where she studied her Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Studies at the University of South Wales. She then went on to study at the University of Wales Trinity St. David to complete her PGCE in Secondary Education for Computer Science/IT.

Ibu Sarah was attracted to Dyatmika by its strong ethos to educate for a better world, its place within the local and international teaching community and the desire to teach well rounded students that have had a variety of learning opportunities both within and outside the classroom. She has enjoyed seeing Dyatmika ‘come back to life’ after the pandemic and taking students on Duke of Edinburgh expeditions as well as organising international trips for her students.
In her spare time Ibu Sarah enjoys travelling both domestically and internationally, leading an active lifestyle attending Crossfit, hiking, kayaking and many other outdoor activities. She feels very fortunate to call Bali her home.

Following his impactful tenure in Banten, Pak Suko took on the role of Principal of a school in Mentawai. In this role, he demonstrated exceptional leadership skills and a deep dedication to education. His commitment to fostering educational growth remained steadfast as he transitioned to Papua, where he served as Vice Principal, further honing his administrative and leadership skills.
In his most recent role, Pak Suko joined an international school in Bali as the Head of the Bahasa Indonesia Department. In this position, he not only led the department but also taught First Language Bahasa Indonesia. His extensive experience and unwavering passion for education have led him to his current position at Dyatmika School, where he continues to inspire students and educators.
Beyond the classroom, Pak Suko has a particular fondness for badminton. He also plays the guitar in his spare time. Holding a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in English Language Education from Ganesha University, Bali, Pak Cok’s love of teaching has grown since he was a primary class teacher of a national plus school applying a combined curriculum. Following a successful qualification as National Head of School from the Indonesian authorities, Pak Cok explored the management ladder by taking opportunities to lead schools with national and international settings around Bali. During his more than 17 years of in education, Pak Cok acquired extensive knowledge on the Indonesian education system. The Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology recognized him as a Master Trainer for the school’s transformation program and a National Instructor for the teacher’s transformation program.
As the Head of SPK Accreditation in Dyatmika, Pak Cok was instrumental in guiding the whole school through the rigorous process of SPK Accreditation in 2019 leading to an excellent level of accreditation for EYP/Primary and High School. Over the years, Pak Cok has built productive networks with schools around Indonesia and in 2021, he was appointed as Deputy of the SPK School Association with more than 400 members across Indonesia. Prior to joining Dyatmika, Ibu Irin worked as part of a pre-opening team at one of Bali’s universities, and it was here that she found that education was the field that she was passionate about. Ibu Irin has a keen interest in literature and technology and this contributes to her success in her role as Library Assistant. She continues to actively pursue professional development opportunities to enhance her skills as librarian.
Ibu Irin enjoys baking in her spare time, teaching herself to bake bread and cakes through discovering new recipes. She also loves to spend time with her little family trying various kid-friendly outdoor activities, enjoying nature or simply just going to her hometown in Singaraja, north Bali.

Pak Komang was born and grew up in Yogyakarta He attained a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering at Universitas Gadjah Mada and went on to work at a multinational oil company in Riau, Sumatra as a corporate application developer for two years, creating several full-stack web applications.

Ibu Made was born in Denpasar. She is married and has two children; one girl and one boy. Ibu Made graduated from a Tourism High School and, after graduating she worked in hotels in Bali.

Ibu Komang is a helpful and friendly person. In her spare time, Bu Komang enjoys exercising with her friends or spending the weekend with her family and relatives.
