Term 3 is well underway and so much has happened. We began the Term by welcoming Pak Ben to our school community. Pak Ben will be teaching in Classes 2 and 3 and has already met with the majority of the parents. Pak Ben is very excited to be with us at Dyatmika and we hope that both he and his wife, Ibu Lisa, enjoy their time with us. Judging by the smiles on both their faces, that will be for some time.
There have been a lot of new faces at Dyatmika this term and some familiar ones as we hosted the Orientation for Playgroup, July 2020. On Monday the young ones who have older siblings in the school came in and did some fun activities and then on Wednesday, new families and their Playgroup-aged children came in for a morning also. Days like these are important as parents get to meet each other and students also get to see other children in a classroom environment.
I do have a couple of reminders for us all. The Dyatmika school cap seems to be not quite as fashionable I know, as other caps. However, it is part of our uniform and the expectation is that it is worn by all the students. Like all pieces of clothing, the caps should be labelled. At the end of each term, there are at least 15 caps in the lost property bin and these are without names.
The other reminder is to do with snacks. Please make sure that the students have nutritious and balanced snacks throughout their school week and even the occasional treat. Chocolate every day is not a treat when it becomes an expectation. I have also seen during snack time whole tubes of Pringles chips and whole packets of biscuits. Please check some of these items before you send your children to school and the amount that comes to school.
Today Class 5 entertained us at the Primary Assembly and this was followed by a Lion Dance, organised by OSIS, to celebrate Chinese New Year and the Year of the Rat. For those families celebrating the Lunar New Year, Gong Xi Fa Cai.
