The long holiday is a fantastic opportunity for everyone to immerse themselves in a great book! Classes 6-9 have reading challenges to participate in- parents can check out the Google Classrooms for details.
In this semester’s High School reports, students’ reading ages have been updated. If your child’s reading age is below their actual age, try to use this holiday time to encourage good reading habits.
Students can borrow library books over the holiday if all there current library books are returned or renewed.

- Discuss what they are reading
Reading questions:

- Which words in the book make you think this?
- What are the main events so far?
- How do you think the character felt when that happened?
- Which words in the book make you think this?
- What do you think will happen next/ at the end of the book?
- Why do you think that?
- How do you think the main character will react? Why do you think this?
Reading and Watching Age Appropriate materials
As our students become young adults, their interests broaden. The books in our library are checked and organised into age appropriate categories, but it’s a bit harder to do this online or in a bookshop. Here are some resources to help you check that your child is reading or watching age appropriate materials:

https://www.goodreads.com/ (scanning the reviews can give you an idea of whether the material is appropriate for your child.)
