In English, we have been using a useful website called Flipgrid – a video-sharing tool that has many beneficial functions, especially for HBL. It encourages communication and discussion on different topics, creativity and it has become a unique learning method, in addition to the fundamental lessons we receive. It certainly has been a boost to our different skills, such as technology, presentation, and even debating!
Special tools such as layouts, background, fonts, emojis among others are available to make our videos come to life! If students don’t feel comfortable showing their faces or recording their voices, then that is not a problem! We can simply use the whiteboard and text tool. Students can also comment on each other’s work, giving compliments or constructive feedback.
Our first task was to tell a fun fact about ourselves. It was a superb way to know a little something about our fellow classmates. Next, we played a classic but fun game called “Would you rather?’’. We supported our answers with reasons. It was a brilliant method to practice debate, speaking clearly, and helped us see the perspective of others.
This week, our task was to play the game, Two Truths and One Lie where each student had to pose three sentences, consisting of 2 truths and 1 lie. We guessed which one of our friend’s sentences was the lie. A wonderful opportunity to stay in touch with our classmates and get to know more about the new ones.
We learn a lot of valuable skills by using this cool website. Go express yourselves using Flipgrid!
