This month, the subject focus for reading and vocabulary is Art and Music. On Wednesday 23 October, Ibu Claire held a “Mad Hatter’s Tea Party” and read from the classic novel, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll. Over 30 students came along for cake and literary inspiration!
This is part of the Art and Music Book Focus for the month; the book is available to borrow from the library and quick points and stamps are available for writing a book review. Students should also check out the Art and Music reading list on Engage for more fascinating tales that will enlighten and stir the imagination! The word of the month is ‘counterintuitive’; please encourage your child to use this in lessons!
Students also had the chance to take part in a literacy poster hunt this week! Posters beginning ‘books are…’, completed by teachers, were hidden around high school and students had to find as many as they could, in order to find out what their teachers think about books and reading!
Over 150 students took part in this – so 100s of house points have been earned!
