As an SPK school, Dyatmika School always commemorates the Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia with various activities that promote the meaning of love for our country. All students are happy to participate in various types of traditional competitions held to celebrate the Indonesian Independence Day. On 17 August every year, all Dyatmika staff and students carry out a solemn flag ceremony as a form of how much the Dyatmika family love the unitary state of the Republic of Indonesia.
However, this year we will not be able to see the excitement of the Dyatmika students, who are full of enthusiasm competing in those traditional games to commemorate Indonesia’s independence anniversary or see the national teachers are when practising to sing the national and regional songs that take place during the flag ceremony commemorating Indonesia’s independence. We will not be able to see how dignified and enthusiastic the High School students are when training as the flag-raising troop. All will be silent without activities this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
By prioritizing student safety, the Minister of Education and Culture through a circular dated July 3, 2020 announced Guidelines for Commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence in 2020, requires all schools to not hold a Flag Raising Ceremony. Students are expected to watch the Commemoration Ceremony of the 75th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia held at the Istana Merdeka through television or social media only.
