In Term 3, the students of Class 5 are learning about electricity. One of the most exciting activity has been the experiments. First, students created their own design for series circuit by using 2 batteries, 2 light bulbs or a buzzer, wires and one switch. After that, students worked in pairs to put the materials on their design and tried their best to make the light bulbs or the buzzer turn on, and they did it! They were really proud when they finally found any mistakes and fixed them right away. Another experiment was about electromagnetic waves. Students tried to prove that electricity can act as a magnet. Students used a coil wire, one big nail, one battery, a tape and paper clips. The challenge was to lift up the paper clips like a magnet. Again, they did this really well.

In the past few weeks, Class 5 have also had their creative, imaginative juices flowing in English lessons by delving into poetry. We spent time focussing on the poem entitled ‘The Magic Box’ by Kit Wright. We explored the themes, ideas and poetic techniques used by the author before the children planned and wrote their own versions. They have tried really hard to include figurative language and techniques such as alliteration and onomatopoeia in their work and with great success.  Take a look for yourself and see how creative and imaginative Class 5 are!
