Our English teacher, Ibu Karen, decided to give us a new, fun and creative project – making a book trailer. She gave us time during lessons after completing main tasks to work on these, but majoritarily, we worked on them in our spare time. Some went totally overboard and threw in a whole lot of effort. It was impressive to say the least!

The first step in making our trailers was choosing a book. It was interesting to see the variety of genres my fellow classmates read. There were many different books, but there were some recurring ones. The three most popular choices were: Kensuke’s Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo, Charlotte’s Web by E. B. White, and Wonder by R. J. Palacio.

Afterwards, we chose the editing app we wanted to use for our book trailers. I chose iMovie as it provides simple and well-designed templates for personal use. Others chose apps like Filmora, Adobe Spark and Kinemaster instead.

Lastly, we added pictures and text and music to make our videos really “come to life”. My friends used awesome pictures and sounds that really fit the theme of their stories. I really am amazed!

Overall, I really enjoyed this project. Why? Well, it’s due to a variety of reasons, but the main one is that this project was a breath of fresh air. It was different from the tasks we normally get not in just English but in all of HBL. The project got our creative juices flowing, which is always good! And if you’re wondering, there wasn’t anything I disliked about this project. What even is there to dislike?

On a more personal note, I think that everyone’s book trailers came out nice. It was easy to see just how hard my fellow Class 6 students had tried.

To end things properly, I am hereby presenting a million thanks to Ibu Karen. We all had lots of fun! Need proof? Just ask anyone from Class 6!

Anyway, I’m definitely looking forward to our next assignment. I’m hoping it’s another mind-blowing, creativity-inducing one!
