The successes of Home Based Learning (HBL) have been testament to the strength and togetherness of the student/teacher/parent community at Dyatmika. The learning and achievement culture we have built together in High School has been no more apparent than now – daily we see almost 100% attendance to every lesson in every class, with impressive engagement from students.
It was great to see all of our students via webcam at assembly on Friday, 24 April where we could come together and celebrate achievement as we normally do every week. It wasn’t without technical difficulties where the 250 webcam streams crashed my laptop! But we continued on, and the students showed a lot of enjoyment at having the whole High School together across 2 simultaneous Google Meets.
We have valued parent and student feedback, and have been working to balance learning with screen time levels, and progress with also having some fun. I am proud of the High School teaching staff and their level of professionalism and dedication to finding new ways to engage our students online – our HBL chat group is active from 6am to 10pm on many days! I also appreciate your understanding and many nice comments, which I can share with teachers – they also have a lot of screen time, and greater workload at this time.
Various examples of some of the fantastic work our students are producing they too have adapted so well to this situation; student led learning now involves our students essentially running webinars in lessons through their presentations, and collaborating via various online platforms. I feel it’s a time for everyone to be proud of the achievements we’re seeing in challenging circumstances.
