Early Childhood
The Dyatmika Early Years Programme is active, fun and child-centred. Early Years students are guided through rich learning tasks designed around thematic units. Activities are designed to foster:
– social and emotional skills
– fine and gross motor skills
– intellectual development
Each class is supported by highly skilled and experienced bilingual teachers and full-time teaching assistants, who use a holistic approach that encourages the development of language for young learners in both Bahasa Indonesia and English. The ratio of children to teachers allows for the development of quality relationships.

International Head of Primary School
Dyatmika’s Early Childhood department is a vibrant, child-centred learning community where the inquisitive and playful natures of our youngest students are nurtured and honoured. Each child is valued for who they are and is given opportunities to learn in ways that suit their natural interests and developing personalities. There is freedom to explore and discover the world around them, in which many critical concepts of mathematics and literacy are to be found.
Our Early Years practitioners forge strong relationships with their students as together they begin building each individual’s learner profile. They guide and facilitate a strong start to lifelong learning and personal development, rooted in an attentive, kind and fun environment.

Playgroup (PG)
This is where the learning journey begins and we understand the best way for 3 year olds to learn is through purposeful play. Students learn pre-literacy and pre-numeracy skills and discover their world through play, movement, music, art and craft. Students benefit from weekly visits to the library where they learn to borrow books and develop a love of reading.

Technology is also used in an age appropriate way to enrich and support the students’ learning. During their Playgroup year the students learn how to:
- make friends and interact with others
- build confidence and independence
- explore and express their creativity
- develop effective communication skills
Kindergarten (TK)
The programme in TK is delivered by two bilingual Early Years teachers who are supported by two bilingual teaching assistants, all of whom are supported by the International Early Years Coordinator. The curriculum engages students utilising best practice from the Cambridge Early Years curriculum and phonics programmes designed to give children foundation skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing in both English and Bahasa Indonesia.

The children are also involved in reading activities in both languages aimed at developing comprehension, speaking and listening skills.
Mathematics in TK is a hands-on introduction to early numeracy. Integrated units at this level stimulate creativity and inquiring minds. Our programme includes field trips which enable children to discover the world beyond the classroom. Children in TK have weekly specialist lessons in:
- Physical Education
- Music
- Library
