When I am discussing potential university destinations with our students, one factor that I often ask them to consider carefully is the makeup of the student body. Does the university have a lot of students who live at home while studying? Does it have a lot of international students? What countries are these students from? How does the university support its international students? Does it guarantee accommodation to 1st year international students? Do they have extra orientation events? Is there an international student support service? And so on…
Dyatmika students have become accustomed to studying in a very international environment. They have classmates from all over the world. They are accepting of people from cultures very different to their own. When they go to university they may find that this is not the case for all students; however, choosing an institution that has a strong international student body and a university system that supports its overseas students can make a big difference to how quickly and smoothly they settle into their new life.
Earlier this year Times Higher Education published a list of the most international students around the world – based on international student score, international staff score, international co-authorship score and international reputation metrics. These are universities that offer a diverse student body and prepare their graduates to be successful global citizens.
