Our wider reading focus will continue this year, with each department having a monthly focus to promote a subject related reading list, key word and book of the month.

This month, the focus is from the Social Sciences department. Last Friday lunch time, Ibu Sez read from her recommended book, ‘The Tattooist of Auschwitz’ by Heather Morris and was joined by over 20 enthusiastic and keen book lovers!

This book, along with other recommended reads from the teachers of Social Sciences are available on Engage for parents and students. There are also very exclusive book marks in the library which include the full book list! Students are able to take out any of the books from the list and can earn rewards if they submit a book review about one of them.

The word of the month from Social Sciences is ‘perception.’ We were impressed with Deon’s use of this during assembly! Students can earn rewards for using this word, in the correct context, in any of their lessons. Please encourage them to try this, whether verbally during class discussion or in their writing.
