As our Class 12 students start to receive their university offers and make the final decision about where they will study after leaving Dyatmika, it is time to focus attention on the official processes that need to be completed in order to take up student residency in another country. The procedure, costs and support for obtaining a student visa varies widely according to destination and also what passport/s a student currently holds. Below is a brief overview of some of the current requirements and where to go for further information.This process can seem complex, but countries are keen to welcome international students so if you start early to gather the required documentation and follow the instructions exactly there should not be too many difficulties.

United Kingdom: General Student Visa (Tier 4)
• apply online
• will receive a confirmation of acceptance for studies (CAS) from the university – given as soon as offer is unconditional and required to complete the application
• cost around 350 GBP + healthcare surcharge, evidence of funds required, TB test (only at BIMC Kuta), documents translated into English, proof of knowledge of English.
• can work part time in term, full time in holidays

The Netherlands: Residence Permit for Study
• institution is responsible for overseeing the visa permit application – they will support you through the process
• permit granted for full duration of study + 3 months
• proof of funds will be required
• students can work part time in term and/or full time in holidays – but will need additional Dutch health insurance to do so
• can apply for an Orientation Year Permit after graduation

Australia: Higher Education Visa (subclass 500)
• cost 575 AUD
• apply online
• students also need to meet Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) requirement
• evidence of academic place, English knowledge, funds, Overseas Student Health Coverage (OSHC)
• can work part time and two months after graduation – then option to apply for a new work stream visa

Canada: Port of Entry Letter of Introduction – Canadian Student Visa
• can start application when you receive your letter of acceptance
• apply online or at Visa Application Centre (in Kuta) – may need to give biometrics in person at the visa centre.
• can work part time (up to 20 hours per week)
• documentation required depends on current citizenship
